Algeria and Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez is yet to report for training with fears that he has gone AWOL after failing to move during the January transfer window.
Media reports suggest that Mahrez is still absent from training as doubts grow regarding his availability for the clash against Manchester City on Saturday.
The club are mediating with Mahrez and his agents in an effort to bring the Algerian back into contention for manager Claude Puel.
However, sources have told SportsMail that Mahrez was not present at Leicester's Belvoir Drive complex, a week after first going AWOL amid City's late £50million bid.
The former PFA Player of the Year has not reported for duty at Leicester since last Tuesday, but club officials are taking a delicate approach and it is believed he might have been granted time away since deadline day.
Although the rest of the squad returned to training on Tuesday morning, having been given Monday off following the 1-1 draw with Swansea City, he remains doubtful.
“I expect nothing,” said Puel on Saturday. “The most important thing is not to think about one player but to think about my team and my squad.”
