The Senegal international has been criticized for his poor performance as his side Everton suffered a 4-1 defeat to Arsenal in an English Premier League match.
Talksport analyst Joey Barton slammed Gueye and his central midfield partner Morgan Schneiderlin when speaking on Alan Brazil's Sports Breakfast show.
Goals from Aaron Ramsey (brace), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Laurent Kolscielny secured the win for Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
"Idrissa Gueye? Remember when kids were on the play ground and they all chase after the ball,” Barton said.
“And then somebody runs off because a crisp packet blows across the play ground and he’s braindead? That’s Gueye.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin grabbed Everton’s consolation goal in the second-half as the Toffees tasted their third defeat in their last five league games.
"I think Schneiderlin is terrible, but it doesn’t help having him alongside him because of the amount of times he vacates the middle of the park. Evertonians tell me he’s a good player, I can’t have it,” he added.
Gueye and his Everton team-mates will look to return to winning ways in the league when they host Crystal Palace at the Goodison Park on Saturday.
The 28-year-old hardman has made 23 league appearances for the Toffees this season - netting once in the process.
