South Africa international Kermit Erasmus has parted ways with French Ligue 1 club Rennes.
The striker struggled to break into the team’s starting line-up having only made 11 league appearances since joining the club in January, 2016 from South African giants Orlando Pirates.
Midway through the 2016/17 season, Erasmus was loaned out to French Ligue 2 side Lens and he made 12 league appearances.
Rennes have since decided to terminate the striker's contract.
The club tweeted: "The Rennais F.C. and Kermit Erasmus Stadium have earlier terminated the contract that linked them since January 2016.
"The player is therefore free from any commitment.
"The Red & Black wish him a full success and a lot of happiness for the rest of his career."
Lens were reportedly eager to keep him at the end of his loan stint last year, but he returned to Rennes.
It remains to be seen whether Lens will renew their interest in the forward, who is now a free-agent.
