Mamelodi Sundowns beat Cape Town All Stars 1-0 in the Nedbank Cup Last 32 match at the Athlone Stadium on Friday night.
The win sees the Brazilians book their place in the Last 16, while Igugu Lekapa are eliminated from the competition.
Igugu Lekapa as Stars are affectionately known to its supporters did not show any respect to the Brazilians in the opening stages of the game.
Sundowns goalkeeper Razak Brimah had to make a decent save to deny Stars attacker Ruzaigh Gamildien in the sixth minute.
Ntshuxeko Ndlovu, the Stars midfielder, then found some space outside the Sundowns box in the 26th minute and placed his effort over the crossbar.
Sundowns then took control of the match with the half-time break fast approaching - applying some pressure on Stars.
National First Division (NFD) outfit Stars were able to contain record seven-time Premier Soccer League (PSL) champions Sundowns.
The score was 0-0 at half-time between Stars and Sundowns.
Igugu Lekapa continued to attack the Brazilians without fear after the restart, but they were very wasteful.
Lucky Setelele and Ntshuxeko Ndlovu both had a chance to beat Brimah from close range, but they missed the target.
The hosts were then punished at the back on the hour-mark and it was Percy Tau, who scored to make it 1-0 to Sundowns.
Sundowns dominated the match in the latter stages of the game, but were wasteful in front of goal with Tau and Gaston Sirino missing the target.
In the end, Sundowns ran out 1-0 winners over Stars on the night.
