Leicester City manager Claude Puel believes Manchester City should have shown more “respect” in their attempt to sign Riyad Mahrez.
Leicester rejected Man City’s deadline day bid for the Algerian attacker, who subsequently stayed away from training and has only returned to duty in the past week or so.
Puel argues that replacing a player of Mahrez’s quality is difficult for his club, especially in the mid-season transfer window.
"We don't have a lot of players with the game quality of Riyad," said Puel.
"For some other teams, it's not a difficulty to replace their players.
"For me, it's important. We're not a squad like some great teams at the top of the table. We need to manage better, and we need also perhaps some others' respect.”
Mahrez mayt return to Leicester’s line-up for their FA Cup at home to Sheffield United on Friday night.
