The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) international says he remains hopeful that he will soon complete his transfer to Chinese club Beijing Guoan.
The Chinese Super League outfit triggered Bakambu’s release clause from Spanish side Villarreal last month.
However, Guoan, who finished ninth on the league standings last season, are yet to confirm the signing of the 26-year-old marksman.
The transfer has reportedly been stalled by a new rule made by the Chinese FA last year that expects club to pay 100% transfer tax for overseas players for the development of the country's football at youth level.
Bakambu was part of the Guoan squad in Portugal for their training camp ahead of the new Chinese league season.
"There's no problem, it's just a question of timing. I expect the transfer to go through,"Bakambu told AFP.
"They didn't want to do it in the shadows hidden away in a hotel in Portugal.
"They want to do that in Beijing in front of the press and their supporters, and that's why this thing is dragging on a bit.”
Guoan are said to be looking to reach an agreement with the Chinese FA before announcing the signing of the talented striker.
