Ghana winger Christian Atsu will spend this week preparing for a clash with one of his former employers.
The 26-year-old Black Stars winger has lost his regular starting place in Newcastle United’s team to January loan signing Kenedy, but remains an important player under manager Rafael Benitez.
After enjoying this past weekend off (due to Newcastle’s early exit from the FA Cup), Atsu and his teammates will be gearing up for a key Premier League clash against Bournemouth on Saturday, February 24.
United find themselves in 13th place on the log on 28 points, just two points above the dreaded relegation zone, while Bournemouth are three positions and three points in the opposite direction.
Atsu will be particularly motivated for the clash against the Cherries, a team he represented on loan (from Chelsea) for half a season in 2015.
The Ghanaian will look to add to the 23 appearances and two goals he has racked up in the Premier League this term.
