Wednesday February 21 will see 10 preliminary round, second-leg CAF Confederation Cup matches played across the continent, with teams looking to secure their path into the first round.
All of the remaining matches in this round are delicately poised, with some big names face tough matches to see themselves through to the next phase of the continental competition.
Ivory Coast’s Africa Sports take a 1-1 draw to their match away to Nouadhibou in Mauritania, while Ghanaian heavyweights Asante Kotoko have a narrow 1-0 lead for their trip to Congo’s CARA Brazzaville.
North African sides Al Ittihad Tripoli and RS Berkane take one-goal leads to Niger’s Sahel and Senegal’s Mbour Petit Cote, where they will surely be given stern tests, while Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy will hope to make the most of home advantage and overturn a 1-0 deficit against Mozambique’s Costa Do Sol.
Nigeria’s Akwa United have an even tougher task on their hands as they trail 2-1 before their trip to the Gambia’s Banjul Hawks.
The 10 aggregate winners will advance into the first round, which will be played on 6-7 & 16-18 March and sees the entry of seeded teams SuperSport United, Enyimba, USM Alger, Al-Hilal Al-Ubayyid, DC Motema Pembe, Al-Ahly Shendy, Nkana, Club Africain, Raja Casablanca and Zamalek.
