Tuesday’s CAF Confederation Cup action saw 10 teams book their place in the first round of the continental competition, including Petro de Luanda, Al Masry, Simba and Cape Town City.

The afternoon’s opening match saw AS Port Louis of Mauritius secure a 4-1 home win over Comoros’ Ngazi Sport - thanks to a hat-trick from Ludovic Lafoudra - to advance 5-2 on aggregate.

Petro de Luanda drew 0-0 away to Masters Security to confirm a 5-0 aggregate triumph, while Egypt’s Al Masry were beaten 2-1 at Zambian side Green Buffaloes, but still won the tie 5-2 overall.

Congo’s CS La Mancha edged AS Tanda of the Ivory Coast 1-0 to take their tie by the same aggregate score, while Rwanda’s APR and Tanzania’s Simba won away from home to add to already convincing aggregate scores against Anse Reunion (6-1) and Gendarmeri Nationale (5-0).

Equatorial Guinea’s Deportivo Niefang won 1-0 at home to Cameroonian side New Star to draw the tie 2-2 on aggregate but advance on away goals, while Algerian side CR Belouizdad defeated Onze Createurs 2-0 on the day and 3-1 overall.

The evening wrapped up with Benin’s Energie scoring a late equaliser to draw 1-1 away to Guinean club Haifa and secure a surprise 2-1 aggregate triumph, while South African debutants Cape Town City defeated Swaziland’s Young Buffaloes 1-0 on the night and 2-0 overall.
