Ghanaian winger Christian Atsu would have been a disappointed man this past weekend after his Newcastle United drew 2-2 with former team Bournemouth.
Atsu didn’t start the match at the Vitality Stadium, only entering as a substitute in the 64th minute when he replaced Brazilian Kenedy.
By that stage, the Magpies had a 2-0 lead thanks to a brace from Dwight Gayle and looked to be on course for three vital points in their battle against relegation.
However, United contrived to concede late goals to the Cherries’ Adam Smith and Dan Gosling in the 80th and 89th minute respectively.
The result left them just two points above the relegation zone with 10 rounds of the 2017/18 season left to play.
Atsu will hope to return to Newcastle’s starting line-up for their next Premier League match, which sees them take on Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday, March 3.
