Ghanaian midfielder Sulley Muntari says he opted to sign for Spanish club Deportivo La Coruna because of their history.
The former AC Milan and Internazionale player recently joined Deportivo on a short-term deal which runs to the end of the season.
The move has seen him link up with former teammate Clarence Seedorf, who is now the manager of the La Liga side.
"I had offers, but I chose to come here because it's a club that was in the Champions League," he explained.
"They have the DNA of a big club, historic and with a winning mentality.
"It was easy to choose, because also there is an old teammate [Seedorf] here."
The former Black Stars midfielder is happy to be at Estadio El Riazor and has set out goals for his time at the club.
"I'm very happy to play to be in a historic club like this and in a dressing room that has welcomed me so warmly," he commented.
"We have to play to win and survive in the first division and I'm sure we can achieve it.
"My mission is to help my team-mates to win, run, get the ball and give it to my strikers.
"If I score, great, but the aim is to give the ball to the strikers.
"Starting? It depends on the coach and what he needs, I'm here to help the team and the club."
