RC Strasbourg goalkeeper Alexandre Oukidja has decided to represent the Algerian national team and is in the process of attaining his passport.

The goalkeeper wants to be available for the Desert Foxes national team, DZ Football sources can confirm.

The 29-year-old joined Strasbourg when they were in the third tier of French football, but has helped them achieve successive promotions to Ligue 1.

He is now a regular in the top division in France and playing against some of the best clubs in Europe.

Born in France, the net minder is of Algerian descent and has decided to pledge his international future with Rabah Madjer’s side.

However, he will have to battle it out with Rais M’Bolhi, who has dominated the goalkeeper shirt for the Desert Foxes since 2010.

Moreover, Oukidja will also look to beat Faouzi Chaouchi and Abdelkader Salhi, who are also eyeing the number one spot.

Despite being born in France, Oukidja has never featured for any of their youth sides at international level and is now ready for the call from Madjer to represent the country of his father.
