Nigeria and Yatai Changchun striker Odion Ighalo says he is ready to start the 2018 Chinese Super League campaign.
The Super Eagles international says he cannot wait to get the ball rolling for the CSL giants as he will want to lift the title.
Ighalo has declared that he is fit and ready to compete for both club and country after speaking to AOIFootball.com from his base in China.
The former Watford striker in the English Premier League said he is more than determined to improve in all aspects of his game to ensure he is in perfect shape for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
“Our preseason went well and we played some quality games in Spain, so hopefully we should be ready to take to the pitch next Friday,” he said.
“For now, the aim is just to get started in a good way because it’s been a long break and hopefully we can do better than last season.
“These are defining moments for every player that wants to play at the biggest stage. Last season was good for me, but I believe I have what it takes to even do better. I just want to be in good shape before the World Cup.”
The 28-year-old was Changchun’s best player last season after netting 15 goals and creating another four.
He will hope to continue where he left off when they meet fellow Nigerian Obafemi Martins’ Shanghai Shenhua on Friday.
