Senegalese star Sadio Mane has backed Virgil van Dijk to make a big difference at Liverpool.
The Dutchman became the world’s most expensive defender when he was signed from Southampton in the January transfer window.
Though he has had a mixed start to his career at Anfield, van Dijk is expected to become a cornerstone of Jurgen Klopp’s Reds team for many years to come.
This is certainly a sentiment Mane, who played with van Dijk at the Saints, agrees with.
"He's a great player and I know him very well because he was my teammate when I was at Southampton too," Mane said.
"He is a very good addition for us and we are very happy to have him in the team. For sure, he will make a difference for us.
"He is strong and technical and clever in the games. He wins a lot of balls in the air and he reads the game very well too."
