European giants Barcelona and Liverpool are reportedly keeping tabs on Olympique Lyon’s French-Algerian midfielder Houssem Aouar.
According to Goal, the 19-year-old’s breakthrough season with the French side has drawn attention from some of the continent’s biggest clubs.
Aouar operates mainly as a central midfielder but an injury to forward Nabil Fekir means the young star is likely to be tested in a more attacking role over the coming weeks.
Earlier this week, Real Madrid striker Benzema said of the youngster: "Aouar? I had already talked about him some time ago, I said he was the new prospect of OL and the next generation of the club.
"His beautiful season in the pros only confirms what I said about him. He is a very good player. I know him. I really like the player. He can go far."
Aouar was born in France and has represented the European country at junior international level, but is of Algerian descent and qualifies to play for the Fennec Foxes.
