Cameroon’s Bong extends Brighton stay

Cameroon and Brighton & Hove Albion defender Gaetan Bong has signed a new deal with the English Premier League side.

Bong’s new deal will see him remaining at the Amex Stadium until the summer of 2019 and the club has since released a statement on the development.

The 29-year-old Indomitable Lions international has featured 61 times in all competitions since joining from Wigan Athletic in the summer of 2015.

"Gaetan is a key member of the squad," Seagulls boss Chris Hughton said.

"He has proved himself to be a consistent performer for us in the Premier League so far this season."

Fresh from a 4-1 win over Swansea City last weekend, Brighton currently sit at the 12th spot with 31 points from 28 games.

In their upcoming clash, they meet Arsenal at home on Sunday in the league.
