Former Berekum Chelsea coach Anthony Lokk has warned Aduana Stars that they must be aware of the threat posed by ES Setif.
The Ghana Premier League winners will host the Algerians for the first leg of the teams’ CAF Champions League first round tie next midweek.
Stars edged past Libya’s Al Tahady 2-1 on aggregate in the preliminary round, but Lokko believes Setif will offer a much sterner test.
“They have a good team but must expect a tougher game against their next opponents in the CAF Champions League,” Lokko told Graphic Sports.
“That is the way the continental campaign goes and you must be ready to deal with it
“I believe in their coach [Yusif Abubakar] a lot, who, to me, is one of the best in the country and will be very key in deciding the game over both legs.”
Stars have also written to the Ghana FA to request a flexible schedule in terms of their domestic campaign, which would allow them the maximum chance of performing strongly on the continent.
"We are aware of the intensity of playing in the Premier League and the Champions League this season so we have written to the GFA to have our fixtures adjusted to help in our continental campaign,” CEO Albert Commey told Graphic Sports.
"It will be great to have our matches played on Fridays so we can prepare adequately and have enough rest for the Champions League games once the league kicks off."
