Cape Town City will look to end their losing streak in the Absa Premiership when they host Chippa United at Athlone Stadium on 2 March 2018, kick-off at 20h00.
City suffered a fourth straight league loss when they were beaten 2-0 at Baroka FC on February 27. It was a match in which the Cape side conceded from the only two shots on target they allowed, and failed to scored from the 14 efforts they attempted.
The Citizens have claimed 16 points from 11 home matches this season, though their last two turns as hosts have brought defeats to both Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits.
Chippa extended their winless run in the league to six matches by suffering a 4-2 home defeat at the hands of Orlando Pirates on February 25. The sequence of results has brought the Eastern Cape side just five points from a possible 18.
The Chilli Boys have claimed just 12 points from 10 away matches this season, with their last game on the road bringing a goalless draw at Baroka FC in mid-February.
In head-to-head stats, City and Chippa have met in three matches since the start of last season. While the Cape side won both encounters last term, the teams’ meeting earlier this campaign saw the Chilli Boys claim a 2-1 home victory thanks to goals from Abel Mabaso and Katlego Mashego.
City’s line-up from their 2-0 loss to Baroka on February 27: Walters, Mkhize, Mngonyama, Johannes, Edmilson, Nodada, Ralani (Masina 70’), Putsche, Martin (Roberts 78’), Moseamedi, Lakay (Seedat 86’).
Chippa’s line-up from their 4-2 loss to Pirates on February 25: Mhlongo, Modisane, Konqobe, Okwuosa, Mako, Rakhale, Mabaso (Maholo 75'), Mdlinzo, Mayambela (Mashego 82'), Mbenyane, Machupu (Sali 67').
