Guinea have appointed Paul Put as their new head coach ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Put recently resigned as Kenya coach following the Harambee Stars' disappointing campaign at the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) finals.

On Friday, the Guinea Football Association announced the much-travelled Belgian tactician as their new coach.

According to BBC, his main task is to qualify the Syli National to the 2019 AFCON finals in Cameroon, and his first game in charge will be against Mauritania in a friendly international in Nouakchott on 24 March.

Guinea are currently top of Group H in qualifying for the 2019 AFCON finals, ahead of Ivory Coast, Rwanda and Central African Republic.
