Maritzburg United coach Fadlu Davids has asked the South African football fraternity to pray for Luyanda Ntshangase after the player was struck by lightning last week.
The 21-year-old spent the weekend in ICU after being rushed to hospital last week Thursday. He was reportedly struck by lightning in a friendly practice match.
"He is still in ICU," Davids said after his side's goalless draw with SuperSport United at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday.
"We are asking the whole football fraternity to please pray for him so he can make a speedy recovery."
The Team of Choice coach added, "I am extremely proud of the players considering the rollercoaster they went through after Ntshangase was struck by lightning.
"It's a huge situation we faced. We had to cancel the training session and I didn't know how to keep their emotions intact."
