Despite his belief that they are a matured side, Senegal and Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly could not help avoid a heavy loss against AS Roma.
The side from the Naples succumbed to a 4-2 defeat last weekend and Koulibaly was confident they were not going to lose at home once again.
Ahead of the match, the Lions of Teranga international was quoted saying Roma have only lost once on their travels this season, but they’ll do everything to win.
He even said they do not fear anyone, not even Edin Dzeko, but a brace through Dzeko and goals from Cengiz Under as well as Diego Perotti downed the Partenopei.
Following the defeat, Napoli now lead Juventus by a point, but the Old Lady has a game in hand, prompting coach Maurizio Sarri to downplay their title aspirations.
“We need to understand why Roma managed to score so many goals without touching many balls in our area. Our fans know we are doing it all, we are doing well but we are not the best club in Italy,” said the coach.
“Juventus are from another planet, they are the only contenders to win the Scudetto this season. We’ve been trying to make their life hard and we’ll try to do it till the end of the season.”
Up next is a clash away to Inter Milan on Sunday and that match will test Koulibaly and his teammates’ maturity as well as their hunger to lift the Serie A crown.
