Zamalek have announced that goalkeeper Ahmed El-Shennawy has officially signed a new three-year contract with the club.
The Cairo giants announced the news last weekend, saying the keeper met with the president Mortada Mansour to discuss the new deal.
El-Shennawy joined the White Knights in 2012 on loan from Egyptian League rivals Masry before turning the move into a permanent position in 2014.
"El-Shennawy signed the new contract after a meeting with the club president Mortada Mansour," said board member Ismail Youssef.
The 26-year-old keeper has established himself as the club's first choice goalie in the last three years.
Hi current deal was due to run out at the end of next season and the 2016 CAF Champions League losing finalists decided to retain his services.
"There weren't any problems in the renewal talks. I signed the contract immediately after the meeting with the chairman," El-Shennawy added.
"There wasn't a release clause as I got a promise from the chairman to allow me to play abroad once I get a serious and appropriate offer after the (2018 FIFA) World Cup."
El-Shennawy played an instrumental role in guiding Zamalek to win the domestic league title in the 2014/15 season, three Egypt Cup titles in 2013, 2015 and 2016, and also the Super Cup title in 2016.
