Cameroonian striker Vincent Aboubakar was helpless to prevent Porto’s midweek exit from the UEFA Champions League.

The Portuguese Primeira Liga leaders put up a solid showing in their return leg, last 16 clash at Anfield against Liverpool on Tuesday and came away with a creditable 0-0 draw.

However, following a 5-0 loss at home in the first leg last month, Porto went out of Europe with barely a whimper.

Aboubakar started the match and played 80 minutes before being replaced by Goncalo Paciencia. The Indomitable Lions man was in the starting XI for the first time after recovering from a lengthy spell out with injury.

Porto and Aboubakar will turn their focus now to domestic matters, as they face a trip to Pacos de Ferreira in the Primeira Liga on Sunday, March 11.

Porto have a healthy five-point lead at the top of the table over nearest chasers Benfica and will look to push hard for their 28th league title and a first since 2013.
