Baroka FC beat Steenburg United 2-0 in the Nedbank Cup Last 16 match at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The victory saw Bakgaga advance to the quarter-finals, while United bowed out of the tournament.
The match got off to a lively start with Baroka and United both launching attacks in search of an early goal.
The hosts dominated possession and they were unable to convert their changes as the likes of Abelt Mothupa and Abdi Banda both missed the target.
United did threaten through Mika-iel Hendricks, whose header was saved by Baroka goalkeeper Ayanda Dlamini just before the half-time break.
However, Baroka broke the deadlock through Mudzunga Sidumo after the visitors' defence was exposed.
Gift Motupa made a good run down the right-hand side and he set-up Sidumo, who scored with a low shot to make it 1-0 to Baroka.
The visitors then pushed for the equalizing goal with the half-time break on a sunny afternoon in Polokwane.
However, the home side stood firm at the back and Baroka were leading 1-0 at half-time against the lower division side.
United were happy to sit back and launch quick counter attacks. Damian Basadien's long-range effort narrowly missed the target in the 60th minute.
Baroka continued to dominate the match and Sidumo hit crossbar in the 72nd minute with United keeper Abdurghman White rooted to the ground.
Wassem Bernard should have made it 1-1 in the 79th minute after Dlamini had made a mistake, but the United striker's effort hit the crossbar.
Baroka's 2-0 victory was then sealed by Tebogo Sodi, who beat White with a first time effort in the 83rd minute.
