Kenya international midfielder Victor Wanyama has expressed his happiness after winning the English Premier League Goal of the Month award for February.
The defensive midfielder scored with thunderous long-range shot as his side Tottenham Hotspur held Liverpool FC to a 2-2 in a league game at the Anfield Stadium last month.
Wanyama, who came on as a substitute, spoke to Tottenham's official website after receiving his accolade.
“I think it was one of the best goals I’ve ever scored. I reacted before the Liverpool players and I thought I’d just let it go," Wanyama said.
"The ball was bouncing and I didn’t want to think too much so I just let it fly. It was a good goal and I’m happy to win Goal of the Month.
The site asked Wanyama to compare his strike with the 40-yard goal he scored for Southampton at Hull City in November, 2014.
“I think this one was much better because the keeper was in goal. For the other one, the keeper was out of the goal and that was a bit easier. This one was just unstoppable," he said.
Having scored his first goal of the season against Liverpool, the 26-year-old is planning on adding to his tally before the end of the season.
“It depends – if the ball is good, then why not?, hopefully I can get some chances like that and I can get more. I just want to keep on helping the team," he added.
