Ghana’s Christian Atsu made a substitute appearance on Saturday as Newcastle United claimed a vital Premier League victory over Southampton.
The Black Stars winger replaced Kenedy – who scored the Magpies’ first two goals – in the 78th minute.
The victory, which also featured a goal from Matt Ritchie, saw Newcastle move up to to relative safety of 13th place, five points clear of the relegation zone.
Atsu took to Twitter to celebrate the victory and praised the support his side received from the St James’ Park faithful.
“Massive 3 points. The support was great as well,” he posted on the social media site.
