El-Kanemi Warriors head coach Imama Amakapabo praised his charges following their 1-1 draw with Kwara United in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) match on Sunday.
Antonio Dasouza opened the scoring for Warriors in the 36th minute, but Anayor Ogobonna leveled matters for United in the second-half at the Kwara State Stadium.
“In the first half, we were able to control their attack and in the process we got a goal,” Amakapabo told the league’s official website.
“During the second half I wasn’t impressed with our performance in the oppening 15-20 minutes because I wanted the boys to stamp an authority on the game but unfortunately we conceded after a brilliant work from one of their substitutes who had abundance of pace to trouble our defence.
“Overall it was an interesting game because they played a lot of long balls into our defence which we were able to deal with,” the Nigeria under-23 national team assistant coach continued.
“I would have been happier with the three points because we’ve dropped points at home already this season but this may be the turning point for us.”
Warriors are placed 18th on the league standings with 13 points from 12 games. They will face Ifeanyi Ubah in their next league game at the El-Kanemi Stadium on Sunday.
