Mamelodi Sundowns assistant coach Manqoba Mngqithi believes his side were guilty of missing too many chances in their 2-1 win over minnows EC Bees in the Nedbank Cup on Tuesday.
‘Downs came from a goal down to defeat their third-tier opponents, with Hlompho Kekana and Thapelo Morena netting in the second half to see them through to the quarterfinals.
“To be honest, there is not much I said. First half, it should’ve been a different story. We made a stupid mistake and got punished dearly. From there, we created good chances to take the lead," Mngqithi told SuperSport TV.
“No wonder the goalkeeper is the man of the match because he kept them in the game. It’s always scary when a small team leads during that time because now we start thinking if we go all out they are going to catch us on a counterattack and their striker (Joseph) Chikili is very good.
“But we knew with time they will tire and give us the game. Honestly speaking like I said before, it’s a very good team."
Sundowns will learn their quarterfinal opponent in tomorrow’s draw.
