The 2018 Ghana Premier League (GPL) season is expected to kick-off this weekend, as it is anticipated that the country's FA will have a favourable ruling in court today.
The start of the new campaign has been delayed due to two court injunctions served to the FA by Great Olympics, who are fighting what they believe was an unjust relegation from the top flight last year.
According to Ghanasoccernet, the 2018 season will get underway in short order if and when the GFA win their court battle.
The country's football authorities may also request an extension from FIFA to allow them to hold domestic football during the 2018 World Cup in June and July.
The 16 top-flight teams have been playing friendlies in preparation for the start of the new season.
If the GPL does indeed start this weekend, it won’t be a full programme of matches due to the participation in CAF club competition of Aduana Stars.
