Stoke City manager Paul Lambert has indicated that Mame Diouf could feature against Everton this weekend.

The Senegal international sustained a shoulder injury during Stoke's goalless draw with Southampton in an English Premier League game earlier this month.

Initial diagnosis suggested that the former Manchester United forward could be set for a long spell on the sidelines.

However, on Thursday, Lambert disclosed that Diouf has made good progress and has an outside chance of featuring against Everton on Saturday according to Goal.

“With regards to Mame, he has a slight chance, but we are going to have to have a look at him over the next day or so,” he said.

“We have other options though - Peter is fine, Saido is in my thinking too and we have players like Jese and Choupo who can play up there too.

“There are a few decisions to be made before kick-off and there are a few areas of the pitch that we may need to shake things up in a little bit.”

The 30-year-old marksman has scored five goals in 28 league games for Stoke this season.
