Bloemfontein Celtic defeated Platinum Stars 1-0 in an Absa Premiership match at the Dr. Molemela Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

As a result, Phunya Sele Sele move to 10th spot on the league standings, while Dikwena remain 16th on the table.

Dikwena were the better side in the early stages of the game, but they were very wasteful in front of goal.

Gerald Phiri Jr, Charles Baloyi and Luvolwethu Mpeta both failed to hit the back of the net with the Phunya Sele Sele defence exposed.

Celtic also threatened through Ndumiso Mabena and Kabelo Dlamini, but they missed the target.

The two teams were locked at 0-0 at half-time following a closely contested first-half.

The deadlock was finally broken 14 minutes into the second-half and it was the hosts, who broke the deadlock.

Ndumiso Mabena fired past Stars goalkeeper Mbongeni Mzimela with a low shot to make it 1-0 to Celtic.

Bongi Ntuli had a chance to level matters for Stars, but the forward was ruled offside in the 64th minute.

Celtic contained Stars in the closing stages of the game and they ran out 1-0 winners.
