Eight teams advanced to the 2018 CAF Confederation Cup play-off round on Sunday, 18 March.
Deportivo Niefang of Equatorial Guinea booked their place in the next stage after defeating DR Congo side Motema Pembe 1-0 at home and they won 2-1 on aggregate. Madagascar's FOSA Juniors beat Maurtian outfit ASPL 2000 1-0 at home and the former booked their place in the play-off round after 3-0 on aggregate.
Algerian outfit USM Alger drew 1-1 with Maniema Union of DR Congo at home and they progressed into the next round on the away goals rule following a 3-3 draw on aggregate. Egyptian giants Zamalek beat Ethiopian club Welayta Dicha 2-1 at home and the tie ended in a 3-3 draw on aggregate. Dicha went on to win 4-3 on penalties.
Tunisian club Ben Guerdane thrashed CARA Brazzaville 3-1 at home and the latter booked their place in the play-offs after winning 4-3 on aggregate. Nigerian giants Enyimba edged out Energie Sports 3-2 at home and they advanced to the next stage having won 5-2 on aggregate.
Akwa United from Nigeria beat Libyan side Al-Ittihad 1-0 at home and the tie ended in a 1-1 draw on aggregate. Akwa progressed into the next round after 3-2 on penalties. South African side Cape Town City were beaten 2-1 by Mozambican outfit Costa Do Sol at home and the two teams drew 2-2 on aggregate. As a result, Costa Do Sol advanced after winning on the away goals rule.
