Nigeria captain John Obi Mikel will join up with his national team this week as they gear up for two friendlies against Poland and Serbia.
Fresh from featuring for Tianjin Teda in the Chinese Super League over the weekend, Mikel will lead the Super Eagles for their match against Poland in Wroclaw on Friday, March 23.
Four days later the West Africans will face Serbia in Barnet, England. Both matches serve as preparation for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, where Nigeria will face Croatia, Iceland and Argentina in Group D.
The Nigeria squad includes other regulars such as Victor Moses, Kelechi Iheanacho, Wilfred Ndidi and Alex Iwobi.
Coach Gernot Rohr has also opted to include African Nations Championship stars Stephen Eze and Gabriel Okechukwu, while Joel Obi and Junior Ajay are also being blended into the squad.
Mikel, as captain, will be a key figure in helping the new players become comfortable in the famous green and white of the Super Eagles.
