Niger Tornadoes Hamza Abara was upbeat following his side’s clash with Kano Pillars in the 2018 Niger Professional Football League (NPFL) match on Sunday.

Kano and Tornadoes played out to a thrilling 1-1 draw in a Matchday 13 tie at the Sani Abacha Stadium, in Kano.

Andrew Ikefe gave Tornadoes the lead in the 20th minute, while Junior Lokosa converted an 81st minute penalty to help Pillars to a share of the spoils.

“We came here to win,” Abara told the league’s official website.

“When I brought in those small boys, you can see I wanted to score again.

“But Pillars is a very good and experienced team and did well today to stop us,” he added.

“Otherwise, we would have taken all the points,”

The draw left Kano and Tornadoes on position two and 10 respectively on the league standings with having both played 13 games.

Tornadoes will face Sunshine Stars in their next league game on Sunday, 25 March 2018, while Kano are expected to take on Kwara United on same the day.
