Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi has promised that the Ghana Premier League (GPL) will soon have a title sponsor.
The GPL has not had a title sponsor since the 2015/16 season, when First Capital Plus withdrew their support for Ghana’s top flight division.
But this situation will not continue for much longer, according to GFA boss and CAF first vice-president Nyantakyi, who hinted at a new sponsor when addressing the media in a press conference on Tuesday.
“It’s very important to secure a sponsor for the league [GPL]. I can tell you that no stone is left unturned in our quest to get a headline sponsor for the league,” he said.
“I’ve travelled far and near to get a sponsor for the Ghana Premier League. Let me state that even just yesterday I was somewhere on another continent chasing a prospective sponsor.
“I’m very optimistic and hopeful that we will get a headline sponsor soon for the league this year,” he concluded.
The 2018 GPL season kicked off this past weekend, having been delayed by off-field legal wrangles between the GFA and relegated club Great Olympics.
