Gueye is set to miss Everton FC’s next two English Premier League games which are against Manchester United and Liverpool FC.
This is after Senegal national team doctors have ruled Gueye out until mid-April after he arrived injured at their training camp in Morocco.
Speaking on Tribal Football, Senegal coach Aliou Cisse confirmed that the 28-year-old midfielder will be out for at least three weeks.
"My squad is almost complete, but 'Gana' had a muscle tear when he came over,” he said.
"I had wanted him to be in my team, but I think he will be out for three weeks.
"I wanted him to come over with the rest of his national teammates,” he added.
“So we could assess his injury. He was able to do so."
Senegal’s Lions of Teranga will take on Uzbekistan in an international friendly match in Morocco on Friday.
The Lions of Teranga are also expected to face Bosnia-Herzegovina in another international friendly match in France on Tuesday.
Senegal will be using these two games as preparation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals which will be hosted by Russia between June and July.
