Libya and New York City FC’s Ismael Tajouri has expressed happiness after making his debut for the club last week.
The 23-year-old was called-up to replace the injured David Villa in the Major League Soccer last week against the LA Galaxy.
NYC coach Patrick Vieira called on Tajouri to play the number nine role against Orlando City SC and the player said he was not expecting to make his start and replace the experienced Villa.
Tajouri also netted for NYC in their 2-0 win over Orlando City.
“He told me I would start at No. 9. He (Vieira) knows that’s not my position, but he said that I will do it,” Tajouri said.
“He said what I can do and I must do. I think we do it well.
“I think most goals is with the left foot because I am [left-footed]. My right, to be honest, is not so good.
“Today I needed the right one and the right one was here. It was great to score one goal with the right foot.”
Moreover, coach Vieira lavished the player with praise, saying he is a special talent and is comfortable with the ball.
“I think Ismael is a really good player one against one, he’s really good in a really tight space, he’s really comfortable with the ball and he has pace,” Vieira said.
