Algeria and Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez is doubtful for the international friendly clash against Tanzania set for Thursday.
The Desert Foxes star is in a race to gain fitness for the Desert Warriors’ tuneup game against Salum Mayanga’s men.
Mahrez could miss their friendly game versus the Taifa Stars at the Stade Mustapha Tchaker on Thursday evening.
The winger was believed to have suffered the injury in Leicester City’s 2-1 loss to Chelsea in an FA Cup quarter-final tie.
Coach Rabah Madjer confirmed that the former Le Havre player is being monitored alongside Yacine Brahimi.
“I sent Yacine Brahimi and Mahrez to the infirmary,” Madjer was quoted by Algerian publication Competition.
“We’re monitoring them closely. They have a few niggles.”
Apart from the clash against the East Africans, the North Africans are scheduled to take on Iran next Tuesday as part of their preparation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup appearance in June.
However, Mahrez is expected to be available for the encounter away in Merkur Arena (Graz) at 19:00 (CAT).
