As they get ready for their Bosnia-Herzegovina friendly, Senegal have been dealt a huge blow with news that midfielder Cheickhou Kouyate has pulled out.
The West Ham player in the English Premier League was absent against Uzbekistan on Friday and will also miss the Tuesday clash.
Coach Aliou Cisse will miss the services of his midfielder against Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Stade Oceane on Tuesday.
Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), Cheikh Seck disclosed that Kouyate has been ill since the team’s stay in Casablanca, (Morocco) before opting to return to London with the permission of Cisse.
“Cheikhou kouyaté is sick and has come back with the coach's approval. He has been sick since our stay in Casablanca but he stayed with the group besides, he made the trip to Le Havre but finally we released him with the coach's agreement because there is no point in keeping him here,” Seck said in a press conference.
Apart from Kouyate, the Lions of Teranga will also miss Idrissa Gueye who went back to his club, Everton after suffering a muscle tear.
The West Africans are set to make the their second appearance at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and will meet Colombia, Japan and Poland in Group H.
