Manchester United and Manchester City are set to battle for the signature of Nice’s Ivory Coast midfielder Jean-Michael Seri, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Seri is said to be high on the Red Devils’ list of summer transfer targets, with manager Jose Mourinho looking to freshen up his midfield.
But the Elephants player is also admired by City manager Pep Guardiola, and now the Manchester rivals are set to go head-to-head for his signature.
The Manchester Evening News claims United "will sign at least one midfielder to replace the retiring Michael Carrick, while City are looking for a long-term successor to Fernandinho."
Seri, 26, has been at Nice since 2015 and nearly joined Spanish giants Barcelona at the start of the current season before the deal fell through at the last minute.
