Togo international striker Emmanuel Adebayor believes their plans for the 2019 CAF African Cup of Nations qualifiers are on the right track.

The Turkish-based international with Istanbul Basaksehir, said it was an honour to lead his team in the recent FIFA international break.

The Sparrow Hawks played to a 2-2 draw against Cote d’Ivoire last Saturday and later drew 0-0 against Madagascar at the Stade Municipal in Saint-Leu-la-Foret in France.

Adebayor has since expressed satisfaction with the country's preparations for the 2019 AFCON Qualifiers.

Following a 1-0 loss to Algeria in their opening qualifier, Claude Leroy’s men will aim to bounce back with a win against Benin on September 6.

“It was a great honour to represent my country during these two friendly games. I am glad the preparation is going well,” Adebayor wrote on Instagram.

“We have a very young group that is willing to learn and fight for our nation. Huge thanks to my fellow Togolese people in France that came out to watch and show support, also to those that were watching from Togo and around the world.

“Together we will do everything possible to get a spot at the AFCON 2019 in Cameroon. Let’s do this.”
