Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is hopeful of chasing down Liverpool and Egypt star Mohamed Salah in the race for the Premier League’s Golden Boot.

Salah scored this past weekend to reach 29 goals (equalling Didier Drogba’s record for the most goals by an African in a single Premier League season) – five ahead of second-placed Kane, who has missed several matches of late due to injury.

“Salah's done fantastic, he's a great great player," said Kane, who returned to action this past weekend with a substitute appearance in a 3-1 victory at Chelsea.

“He's obviously got a bit of a head start now, and we'll see what happens.

“I can't control what he does, so I've just got to make sure I prepare well for games and just be ready.

“It's competition. I had the same last year (with Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez).

“For me, I've got to focus on my own game and my own team, and we'll see what happens come the end of the season.

“It's just about being positive. I'm delighted to be back out there and win here at Stamford Bridge, and hopefully I can just have a strong finish."
