Nigeria and Shanghai Shenshua striker Obafemi Martins says he is not chasing personal glory after scoring a hat-trick against Hebei CFFC.
Martins netted three times as they claimed the full three points in their 4-2 win, but he said the points are much more important than his first hat-trick this season.
The Nigerian scored thrice as Shenshua defeated Hebei CFFC 4-2 in their Chinese Super League game on Saturday.
“I’m so happy to get the goal. I missed some chances, but I had to fight with my teammates and ended up scoring three goals,” he said sina.com.cn.
“I feel great to have scored a hat-trick. I am happy for the team because winning the game is much more important. We did great today and I’m glad that we won.”
The 33-year-old’s hat-trick took Shenshua to the sixth spot with seven points from four matches in the CSL so far.
In their next game, they will face Guizhou Rhenhe in the league on Sunday, April 8 away.
