Vincent Aboubakar’s Porto are slipping up in the race for Portugal’s Primeira Liga title, allowing arch rivals Benfica to leapfrog them into first place.
Porto have lost two of their last three league clashes, allowing a strong hold on pole position to slip through their grasp.
Their 2-0 loss away to Belenenses on Monday night, combined with a win for Benfica over Vitoria Guimaraes, has put the defending champions back on top, one point ahead of the Dragons.
The match saw an extension of Aboubakar’s goal drought. The Indomitable Lions has a fine return of 15 goals from 25 league matches this season, but he has not hit the back of the net since a win over Sporting Braga in early March.
The 26-year-old will look for a return to scoring form when Porto host Desportivo Aves for their round 29 clash on Sunday, April 8.
