Ex-Cameroon and Arsenal player Lauren Etame Meyer has advised Nigerian international striker Alex Iwobi on how he can become a regular at the Gunners.

Etame Meyer said the Super Eagles star needs to adapt himself to different positions in the team and ensure he fights to cement his place.

The ex-Indomitable Lions international told Iwobi that he can become a key player to help Arsene Wenger’s men to lift the UEFA Europa League trophy this term.

"The club (Arsenal) need the players to be fit. Alex can be one of the club's most important players as they hope to win the Europa League,” said Meyer to Barclays Premier League Football Today.

"He's doing well. Playing in an institution like Arsenal is not easy. Sometimes it can be difficult for the youngsters.”

Lauren, who faced Iwobi's uncle and former Eagles skipper, Austin Jay Jay Okocha in the final of the 2000 CAF Africa Cup of Nations in Lagos stated how Iwobi can be one of the best players in the English Premier League.

"Iwobi needs to adapt himself to different positions at the club in order to become one of the best players in the English Premier League,” he added.

"If he can play the way he played against Argentina in the international friendly, he can be one of the best in the EPL.

''He can play in the number 10 role behind the striker or from the wings.”

The former midfielder turned right back was a member of the Arsenal squad that won the English Premier League in the 2004/05 season without a defeat.
