Christian Atsu and Newcastle United continued their rise up the Premier League table this past weekend and now look to have put any fear of relegation well behind them.
The Magpies claimed a third successive league win by defeating Leicester City 2-1 away on Saturday afternoon, with goals from Jonjo Shelvey and Ayoze Perez in the first and second half respectively.
Leicester threatened a comeback when Jamie Vardy netted late on, but United were able to hold out for a great win at the King Power Stadium.
Atsu didn’t start the match, but appeared as a second-half substitute, replacing Kenedy in the 64th minute.
The Ghanaian’s side have moved up to 10th place on the log on 38 points and now look to be well clear of the dreaded red zone at the bottom.
The Black Stars winger will look to make his 29th Premier League appearance of the season when Newcastle host Arsenal next Sunday, April 15.
