Al Ahly coach Hossam El-Badry has lamented their lacklustre performance in the Egyptian Premier League against Smouha last weekend.
The Red Devils manager said there were positives in the clash, but was not impressed with their overall display as they drew 0-0.
El-Badry emphasised that the upcoming Egypt Cup clash against Dakhleya is very important for the new EPL champions.
“I am certainly not happy with the team’s performance for many reasons. We were playing for the win, but I understand that this is a phase of the league where we are playing without motives, after securing the title,” said the coach.
“We are currently focusing on our upcoming match against Dakhleya in Egypt’s Cup, with all of our essential players.
“There were some positives in the game, such as giving some rest for the starting players and giving a chance to the young players to participate.”
The Red Devils are set to face Dakhleya in the round of 16 of the Egypt Cup. The match will take place at Cairo International Stadium this Friday, at 19:00 (CAT).
