Egypt national team coach Hector Cuper says they can fight to finish second in their 2018 FIFA World Cup group in Russia.
The Pharaohs boss remains wary of favourites Uruguay, but said they have an opportunity to make it into the next stage.
Speaking to an Italian newspaper, La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Argentine boss has expressed his thoughts on the South American side.
“Uruguay is the best [of the group], although the matches are never obvious, we will fight for second place to qualify and, if someone thinks otherwise, I will be ready to listen to their arguments in my office,” he said.
The North Africans will be facing Uruguay on June 15, before meeting the hosts Russia on June 19 and then wrap up their group stage against Saudi Arabia on June 25.
Should they finish in second place as Cuper predicts, Egypt will face top of Group B which holds the teams of Spain, Portugal, Morocco and Iran.
