Qualifying for the World Cup is massive for many countries around the world, but it is more sentimental for an Egyptian fan by the name of Nufal.
The Pharaohs fan will use his bicycle to cycle to Russia and watch his heroes play at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
He is expected to take 65 days to reach the hosting nation.
FourFourTwo reports that Nufal will travel through Jordan, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova and Ukraine.
Because of civil war in Syria, he will fly over and will skip Iraq for security reasons.
"It's about the road more than the arrival,” he told Reuters.
“If it were just about the World Cup, I would take a plane. It is a great chance for me to see new things."
It is reported that the fan plans to stay overnight in hostels, but is also hoping that he will be offered beds in hospitable strangers' home every now and again.
Nufal has prepared for his trip and has all the necessary kit on his bike such as spare parts, an extra phone, batteries and camping gear.
The dedicated Egypt fan began his adventure on Saturday from Tahrir Square and was seen off by a group of cyclists, close friends and his mum.
Nufal’s hope is to cheer on his country and see his heroes such as Mohamed Salah, Mohamed Elneny and Essam El-Hadary in Russia.
