After the resignation of Tenant Chembo as coach of Zesco United, the reigning Zambian Super League champions have re-appointed George Lwandamina.
Zesco announced the appointment on Tuesday as Lwandamina takes over from Chembo who resigned as interim coach on Sunday.
In a statement to the media, the club believes Lwandamina is a highly-accomplished coach whose coaching career spans national and international stints.
The appointment comes after the man also known as 'Chicken', was in charge of Tanzanian giants Young Africans.
“We have no doubt that with his credentials, he will bring on board exceptional performance and help us conquer African football,” reads a statement from the club.
“And that he will continue with the winning culture and unite everyone connected with ZESCO United, from the players to the supporters.
“On behalf of the Executive committee, I wish to congratulate Mr. George Lwandamina on this appointment and I thank everyone at the Club and the supporters for their patience.”
Lwandamina also served as Chipolopolo assistant coach under Herve Renard from 2008 to 2010.
However, his highlight was when he led Team Ya Ziko to the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League in 2016 as they lost to eventual champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
